It's been a while again, but life has been pretty crazy for me over the past few weeks! I created this blog because my current career wasn't pushing me enough to be creative. I wasn't very busy or challenged and I noticed I was losing some of my passions which brought me to my marketing career in the first place. I have been looking to further my career for a few years now. I've had countless phone and in-person interviews during that time and I got a ton of rejections. It was very hard to keep a level head and feel like I was good enough for something more. I knew deep down that I was and just needed someone to give me that chance. Well...it FINALLY happened! Just last week I received a job offer for Dick's Sporting Goods headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA. I have been looking to land something with them for a while now because I have heard how amazing of a company it is and I've had an interview there last year where I got to tour the facility and learn more about them. I knew right away it would be a great opportunity if I were to ever get an offer there. Jon and I are also in Pittsburgh ALL THE TIME (almost weekly during most of the year) and we have a lot of friends who live out there. We decided to start applying for jobs there since it would still be close to home. I was absolutely thrilled to receive the job offer and Jon and I knew I couldn't pass it up! Within the past week I've accepted the offer, put in my notice at my current job, found an apartment and am moving out next weekend! I start this new adventure on March 23rd and am super excited about it! That being said, this blog isn't going anywhere! I still plan on continuing this creative outlet in my spare time because my hobbies still remain the same. I'll also be on my own during the week until Jon lands a job out there and can move in with me...so I'll need to keep busy!

Let's get to the good stuff-FOOD! My mom's birthday is today and even though my sister and I already celebrated by taking her out to dinner on Friday, I still wanted to get her another gift. Her favorite cake is German chocolate...and it just so happens to be my favorite too! I've never made one from scratch before and thought it would be a fun challenge for me and also a great gift for my momma! I REALLY enjoyed baking this cake and even used some techniques I've never done before! I definitely bake way more pies than cakes...but I was happy to switch it up for once. I followed this recipe and it turned out really well. I'm super proud of it! I kept telling Jon to try the frostings and look at how well everything was coming along. I had a great playlist blasting on Spotify and was dancing around in my kitchen and grinning from ear to ear the entire time I made this. I guess you could say it was a gift to myself too in a way. I felt my mom and I both needed some celebration! She absolutely LOVED it and was so surprised!
